ORIGINAL Sept. 28

Due to the recent rainfall, the City of Vernon has closed sports fields and baseball fields temporarily, effective immediately.

The closure includes all sports play and public activities on: DND Park, Alexis Park, Grahame Park, Marshall Fields Park, Polson Park and MacDonald Park.

Due to prolonged rainfall over the past couple of days, the ground has become saturated and usage of the fields could cause damage to the turf.

Recreation Services will be contacting user groups directly to notify them of the temporary closures and all fields will be reevaluated on Friday, Sept. 29.
