Vehicle flees after striking pedestrian in Rutland parking lot

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries

A pedestrian was struck in the Value Village parking lot on Aurora Crescent just before 11:30 a.m.

According to a police officer on scene a black Silverado truck fled the scene after the incident.

Emergency crews arrived to find a woman in the parking lot alongside a witness. The woman was placed on a stretcher and into a BC Ambulance.

Three RCMP vehicles are on scene.

The pedestrian will be taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Minutes after this there was a call for a second report of pedestrian struck by a vehicle in a parking lot. A man was trapped under a vehicle in the Spall Plaza and had to be rescued by firefighters. This driver stayed on scene.

The woman hit in the Value Village parking lot is the second incident in Rutland in the last three days, where a vehicle has fled the scene after reportedly striking a pedestrian.

On Oct. 21, 15-year-old Tristan Seeger was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Franklyn and Houghton Roads. Seeger later died in hospital. No arrests have been made in related to the Saturday incident.
