School plays out Something Rotten at Vernon theatre

27th Street Theatre presentation on May 29 to June 8

Something may be rotten in the state of Denmark, according to Shakespeare’s Hamlet, but there is certainly nothing wrong with the latest production at WL Seaton’s 27th Street Theatre.

The hilarious musical comedy titled Something Rotten is ready to delight all audiences during its May 29 to June 8 run.

“Set in Renaissance England, where Shakespeare is at the top of his game, the competing theatre company run by The Bottom Brothers are having a hard time making a go of it,” explains director Lana O’Brien. “That is, until Nick Bottom visits a fortune teller to find out what ‘the next big thing in theatre’ is going to be. And what is that? Musicals!

“So, the Bottom Brothers write the world’s first musical and hilarity ensues.”

The play pokes fun at Shakespeare, politics, musicals, breakfast and more.
